What actually moves the price

Sellers usually assume condition is everything. It matters, but four other things move the number more:

• Prior contents. A documented food-only history can double the price of an otherwise identical tote, because it opens the food-grade market. An undeclared history closes every market at once.
• An intact UN plate. A legible, attached plate keeps the container in dangerous-goods service. A missing one drops it to general purpose regardless of how clean the bottle is.
• Cage geometry. A bent cage on a good bottle is repairable. A good cage on a cracked bottle is a rebottling candidate. Both are worth real money; people scrap both constantly.
• Quantity in one place. Forty totes at one address beats forty totes at five addresses by a wide margin, because the collection cost is most of the difference.

What we won't buy

Totes with product still in them. Totes whose contents nobody can name. Totes that held anything we would need a different permit to handle — and if you're unsure whether yours qualifies, send the SDS and we'll tell you honestly rather than turn the truck away at your gate.

Paperwork you get

A transfer note before the truck leaves, listing every serial we took. This is the document your auditor asks for and the one most yards forget to issue. If you need the containers removed from circulation entirely, that is certified destruction instead, and it comes with a numbered certificate.
