The three parts that fail

Across thousands of intake inspections the failure pattern barely varies. It is almost always the valve, the gasket or the lid — and all three are cheap. The bottle and the cage, which are the expensive parts, usually outlive them several times over.

• Valves fail from grit in the seat, from being cracked open under pressure, and from UV embrittlement of an exposed handle.
• Gaskets fail from chemical incompatibility far more often than from age. Viton where EPDM was fitted, or the reverse.
• Lids fail from over-tightening, from being left off in the rain, and from someone levering one with a screwdriver.

Threads, and why nothing screws on

IBC outlets use coarse buttress threads — S60x6 and S70x6 are the common ones — which are designed to seal under load without galling. They are not NPT, they are not BSP, and no amount of PTFE tape will make a hose fitting behave. You need the correct adapter, which costs a few dollars and is in stock. Photograph the outlet and send it; we identify them all day and we would rather you got the right one first time.

Reclaimed cages and pallet bases

Sold on their own. This is the standard fix when someone has cracked a bottle but the steel is sound, and it is the cheaper half of a rebottle if you would rather do the swap yourself. Every cage we sell separately has been through the same jig check as the ones on our own line.

The rest of the shelf

Band heaters and insulated jackets for viscous product in a cold warehouse. Discharge stands to get the outlet above a drum. Bund and spill pallets where secondary containment is required. Dust caps, tamper bands, level indicators, vented caps for gassing product, and spill kits sized for a full tote failure rather than a token bag of granules.
